I've Been In A Deap State Of Thought On This Subject:

I have been thinking a lot about High School, and how it defines you. How mistakes can sometimes last a life time, or will be forgotten the next week. I have seen so many of my friends make mistakes along with me. I have been thinking a lot since most recently one of my friends made a mistake that will effort her for a lifetime, no matter the outcome. How scary it must have been to find out, and how scary it’s going to be. I have also been thinking, how much people depended on one another, through out their lives. What exactly makes a good friend, how can you be there for them through these high school mistakes, and make sure that they will be there in return when you need it. But, when we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is I guess you can say, a good friend.

“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists... it is real... it is possible... it's yours.” -Ayn Rand

 Ten:

“Life isn't supposed to be an all or nothing battle between misery and bliss. Life isn't supposed to be a battle at all. And when it comes to happiness, well, sometimes life is just okay, sometimes it's comfortable, sometimes wonderful, sometimes boring, sometimes unpleasant. When your day's not perfect, it's not a failure or a terrible less. It's just another day." -Barbara Sher

A Teenager Is:

"A teenager is a person who can't remember to walk the dog but never forgets a phone number. A weight watcher who goes on a diet by giving up candy before breakfast. A youngster who receives her allowance on Monday and spends it on Tuesday and borrows her best friend's allowance on Wednesday. Someone who can hear her favorite singer three blocks away, but not her mom in the next room. A whiz who can operate the latest computer without a lesson, but can't make a bed. A student who spends twelves minutes studying for history, but twelve hours studying for her driver's license. An enthusiast who has the energy to bike four miles, but is too tired to do the dishes. A young woman who loves the cat and tolerates the little brother. A romantic who never falls in love for more than a week. A budding beauty who never smiles until her braces come off. A boy who can sleep 'til noon on any Saturday when he expects the lawn needs mowing. And an original thinker who is positive that her mother was never a teenager."

"There have always been ghosts in the machine. Random segments of code, that have grouped together to form unexpected protocols. Unanticipated, these free radicals engender questions of free will, creativity, and even the nature of what we might call the soul. Why is it that when some robots are left in darkness, they will seek out the light? Why is it that when robots are stored in an empty space, they will group together, rather than stand alone? How do we explain this behavior? Random segments of code? Or is it something more? When does a perceptual schematic become consciousness? When does a difference engine become the search for truth? When does a personality simulation become the bitter mote... of a soul?" -Dr. Alfred Lanning From I, Robot

It's Kind Of A Funny Story:

It's Kind Of A Funny Story By Ned Vizzini

"It's terrific: funny, incisive, disarming."
-New York Time Magazine

"The Wise, Witty Narrator and sensitive handling of a hot topic should win over older teens-and their parents."
-People Magazine

I have been reading this book for over the past month, and recently just finished it. From the very beginning it caught my attention and dragged me in. An ambitious New York City teenager Craig Gilner is determined to succeed at life- which means getting into the right high school to get into the right college to get the right job. But once Craig acese his way into Manhattan's Executive Pre-Professional High School, the pressure becomes unbearable. He stops eating and sleeping until, one night, he nearly kills himself. Craig's suicidal episode gets him checked into a mental hospital, where his new neighbors include a transsexual sex addict, a girl who has scarred her own face with scissors, and the self elected President Armelio. There, craig is finally able to confront the sources of his anxiety.
Ned Vizzini, who himeself spent time in a psychiatric hospital, has created a remarkably moving tale about the sometimes unexpected road to happiness. I recommend this book for anyone who themselves went through a tough time, is a teenager and looking for a good book to read, or is ready for a good witty book which will keep them entertained from the moment they open the book till the moment they put it down.

Ned Vizzini began writing for the new york press at the age of fifteen. At nineteen, he had his first book, Teen Angst? Naah... published. ned is also the author of Be More Chill, the first young adult novel ever chosen as a Today show book club pick, as well as one of the entertainment weekly's top ten books for 2004. He lives in New York City.
*Ned Vissin Spent five days in adult psychiatric in Methodist Hospital, Park Slope Brooklyn. (From November 29, 2004-December 3, 2004) Ned wrote this book from December 10, 2004-January 6, 2005 and dedicated it to his mother.

- I have began reading his book Be More Chill, and will blog about it once I am Done. (;
